Why you need an OVP(over voltage protector) ?

The OVP or the rheostatic brake module is designed to deal with the voltage spike when the ESC(based on vesc) working in brake mode. In brake mode, the motor will generate EMF which sometimes will be much higher than the power supply source can survive. When battery comes with a BMS, the higher voltage will cause BMS to cut off, results ESC to power off.

What's the OVP features?

  • Uses 5V supply as working power source, follows ESC to be on and off
  • 10S to 20S configurable
  • Can calibrate voltage by a simple key press
  • User can also trim the protection voltage by a screwdriver
  • A LED indicates the brake mode
  • PWM control in transition voltage zone, 100% PWM is on when critical voltage appeared
  • Powerful switching MOSFET(PN:FDBL0200N100)
  • Freewheeling circuit, freewheeling diode works by same MOSFET (FDBL0200N100)
